Version: 1.1 Effective Date: September 21, 2026
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site owner about how the site is being used.
Some websites also store information on your device using other browser technologies, such as local storage. We use local storage for one thing only: remembering the choice you make in our consent banner.
2. How We Use Cookies
The CEECAM website (ceecam.net) uses cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:
- To keep the site working and protected from automated abuse (strictly necessary);
- To remember whether you accepted or declined optional analytics (your consent choice);
- To understand in detail how visitors use the site, but only if you accept (optional analytics).
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.
We show a consent banner on your first visit. That banner controls one thing: whether Google Analytics is loaded. It does not switch off our other analytics tool, Plausible, because Plausible stores nothing on your device and produces no personal identifiers — see Section 4. It also does not switch off the strictly necessary items in Section 3.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies (Cloudflare)
Our website is hosted on and protected by Cloudflare, Inc. In some circumstances — for example, when Cloudflare’s bot-protection systems need to distinguish a person from an automated script — Cloudflare may set the following cookies. They cannot be switched off, contain no personal information, and are not used for tracking.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot management — distinguishes people from automated traffic | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records that a security challenge was passed so it is not shown again | Up to 1 year (typically much shorter) |
Cloudflare’s description of these cookies: developers.cloudflare.com/fundamentals/reference/policies-compliances/cloudflare-cookies.
3.2 Contact Form Protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm that a submission comes from a person. Turnstile runs inside the form, evaluates technical signals from your browser, and passes your IP address to Cloudflare as part of that check. It may set a short-lived cookie on the Cloudflare challenge domain while the check runs.
Turnstile is strictly necessary — without it the form would be unusable — so it is not gated by the consent banner. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
3.3 Your Consent Choice
| Item | Where stored | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ceecam-consent | Browser local storage (not a cookie) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined optional analytics, so the banner is not shown again | Until you clear it, or 12 months, whichever comes first |
Clearing your browser’s site data for ceecam.net removes this entry, and the banner will appear again on your next visit.
3.4 Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics 4) — only if you accept
If you accept optional analytics, we load Google Analytics 4, operated by Google LLC. Until you accept, the Google Analytics library is not loaded at all and these cookies are not set. We use Google Consent Mode v2, with analytics storage set to denied before any Google script runs.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years | |
_ga_<container ID> | Maintains session state | 2 years |
Google Analytics may transfer data outside Canada, including to the United States. You can read how Google handles data from sites that use its services at google.com/policies/privacy/partners. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which blocks Google Analytics on every site you visit.
3.5 Cookies We Do Not Use
We do not use advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or session-replay tools. The website has no login and no user accounts, so it sets no session cookies of its own. Our CeePlayer platform, which does require a login, is covered by our Privacy Policy.
4. Analytics Without Cookies
Alongside Google Analytics, we use Plausible Analytics, operated by Plausible Insights OÜ (Estonia) and hosted in the European Union. Plausible runs on every visit, including when you decline optional analytics, because it is designed to work without storing anything on your device:
- No cookies and no local storage, and no persistent identifier of any kind;
- Your IP address is not stored — it is used in transit only, to derive an approximate country;
- Data is reported only in aggregate — page views, referral sources, country, and which links or documents are clicked — and cannot be used to identify you;
- No data is shared with advertising networks or used across other websites.
We are being explicit about this so the banner is not misread: declining optional analytics stops Google Analytics, not Plausible. If you would prefer that Plausible did not count your visit either, most content blockers and privacy-focused browsers block it, or you can enable your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting, which Plausible respects.

5. Managing Your Choices
The consent banner
On your first visit you are asked whether to allow optional analytics. You can change that answer at any time — open your cookie settings — and the change takes effect immediately. Declining removes Google Analytics cookies on your next page load and stops the library from being loaded again.
Browser settings
Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can typically choose to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or delete cookies that have already been set. The exact steps vary by browser — check your browser’s help documentation for instructions.
Please note that blocking Cloudflare’s security cookies may prevent the contact form or some pages from loading if a security check is triggered.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new cookies or change analytics providers. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
